gourmentwalk

Yep, you guessed it right guys. We are on our way to Gourmet Walk, Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino. We just got invited for the launching of their #WineFest. The participating suppliers are: Philippine Wine Merchants, Ralph’s Wine, Masterchef Republic, Emperador Distillers and Titania Wine Cellars. It is wine tasting time everyone! Dear wines, we are coming for you!

Muscador Cepage Muscat Rose

muscador bottle

For our first contender,  we have Muscador Cepage Muscat Rose. This wine will remind you of soda. It has this bubbly effect and a fruity/flowery scent that will make you want more until you start to notice the aftertaste. The aftertaste is not really that bad or strong and it will easily fade.

Premium Gran Tierra

gran tierra

Next, we have Premium Gran Tierra. This is a little stronger than Muscador and it doesn’t have that bubbly effect in your mouth. It also have a stronger aftertaste that might make some people want to grab some finger food to go with it. The scent on this one is the regular grape-y smell unlike in Muscador that has a sweet scent.

Morande Gran Reserva

morande grand reserva

Our next contender is Morande Gran Reserva. This is by far the strongest wine I’ve tried throughout the event. It is not because it has a pungent and bitter-y taste of the wine while you try to sip it, it is because of the strong aftertaste that comes after.

morande grand reserva 2

I literally looked for something to eat after tasting this wine. For wine drinkers, this is probably one of the best wines that will leave a mark whenever you try it. (I know for sure it made me feel that way even if I’m not a wine drinker. Hahaha)

Crocodile Fingers and Ostrich Salpicao

fingerfood

Just right after the tasting of Morande Gran Reserva, the host introduced to us the Crocodile Fingers and Ostrich Salpicao. They said that both will go well with wines and it is also a must taste. With those suggestions in mind, we couldn’t help but try it with a lot of excitement building up inside us.

Crocodile Fingers

Crocodile finger is my favorite among the two dishes. Believe me or not but crocodile meat taste like chicken nuggets. And how doesn’t love chicken nuggets, right? Hahaha! It is not as elastic or as hard as chicken meat though.

Ostrich Salpicao

Ostrich Salpicao is also quite tasty. It taste like beef steak; however the texture is like that of a chicken. Maybe the taste is influenced by the way it was cooked that is why we can compare it to a beef steak. Either way, both dish is a first for me and I definitely love this experience.

Montes Merlot

montes merlot

Our second to the last contender is Montes Merlot. This is a lighter version of Morande Gran Reserva. It still have that noticeable aftertaste but it will fade faster than in Gran Reserva. You won’t also feel the need to eat anything but the taste and smell is just quite similar.

Barefoot Moscato California

And last but definitely not the least, Barefoot Moscato California! This will surely leave a mark on you as this is sweet that taste more like a mango/apple mix. This will remind you of a San Miguel Light Flavored Drink. It is the most favorite drink by the girls and some of the guys who are with us during our wine tasting and I must agree that it does taste good. It taste good enough for me to ask for a refill. Hahaha!

Socialization and Gathering

After the wine tasting, we gather around to meet the people behind the event. We were introduced to General Manager – Anders Hallden,  Assistant F&B Manager – Mr. Raffy Chiquillo Babula, and E-Marketing Specialist – Jeane Louise Mainit. General Manager – Anders Hallden gave us some teasers of the upcoming events in the coming months and everybody is so thrilled about it.

  1. Sayanga uy wala ko ani hahaha. I’m a fan of any types of wine. We used to have a wine cellar a long time ago, and then every occassion, my Lolo would get those ‘karaan’ nga wines from the cellar. Because the older it is, the better it tastes. 🙂

  2. That’s actually the characteristic of Moscato wines. They are easy to drink because of their low alcohol content and sweet, crisp taste with hints of fruits such as apple, peach, pineapple, etc.

  3. Let me guess where you’re going. You’re going to Waterfront hotel to get a room.. HAHAHAHA
Kidding aside, you really had a good time tasting those wines. Too bad , I was not able to come with you guys. Well, work happened.

Anyways, Moscato is really one of the nice wines. Moscato all the way! HAHAHA
